VOTE TO SAVE LOCAL CRAFT BEER
Your favourite local craft beer could be at risk in this election. In Ontario, we’re lucky to be able to enjoy some of the best craft beer in the world – and the recent retail expansion was promised to make it easier to find your favourite local brew on store shelves.
But with a looming trade war and the highest craft beer taxes in Canada, delicious local beer and the11,500 jobs it creates are at risk.
Craft beer taxes in Ontario are 8 times higher than Alberta
These high taxes mean it is impossible for brewers to invest in more sales teams, trucks, and the other things they need to get beer onto corner store shelves.
On top of these sky high taxes, a looming U.S. trade war threatens to make it even harder to brew great beer at a great price. During the last Trump trade war, aluminum prices spiked, making it that much more costly to make craft beer. Another spike in aluminum costs could drive more craft brewers out of business.
The next Ontario government can fix this. Tell your local candidates to save craft beer.
An election is the time to let your candidates for public office know this matters to you – that you want ensure local craft beer does not disappear from store shelves. Our craft breweries do so much to support our community and we need to support them.
