We’re lucky to be able to enjoy some of the best craft beer in the world – and the recent retail expansion was promised to make it easier to find your favourite local brew on store shelves.

But one month into the new marketplace it is clear this won’t happen because our local craft breweries are being held back.

Ontario craft brewers pay higher taxes than any craft brewery in Canada

This means it is impossible for brewers to invest in more sales teams, trucks, and the other things they need to get beer onto corner store shelves.

This is unfair and without changes, the future of Ontario’s craft breweries are at risk.

Government can fix this. Tell them to save local craft beer.

The government is currently reviewing the province’s taxes on alcohol so now is the time to let them know this matters to you – that you want ensure local craft beer does not disappear from store shelves.

Our craft breweries do so much to support our community and we need to support them.

Take action by emailing your MPP and telling them it is time to support our craft breweries and save local craft beer.

Over the last decade, Ontario’s craft beer taxes have increased at three times the rate of the beer taxes paid by the foreign-owned big breweries. This unfair tax system is making it impossible for local craft brewers to make the investments necessary to get their beer onto the shelves of neighbourhood stores.
